What Method of Carpet Cleaning do you use?
There are many different method of carpet cleaning. At Hook Carpet Cleaners we believe the best results are achieved with Hot water extraction, or steam cleaning. The Method which we go through is as follows:
1) We pre vacuum your carpets to remove any surface soils,
2) We Clean right up to and round the edges of your carpet with a special hand tool so we don't damage your walls
3) We pre spray your carpet with a special solution to break down, fats & grime, it help to break down soils in the carpet and kills dust mites an other pesticides.
4) We agitate the pre spray into the carpet to help the solution work, sometimes we will do this by brush, however for engrained soils, we will use a rotary machine, allowing a powerful clean.
5) We leave the Solution to work, this time may be 30 seconds or half and hour, it depends on the type and amount of soil
6) A high Pressure hot water extraction. This injects a rinse agent into your carpet, the powerful vacuum then removes any soils, solutions and stains from your carpet cleaving them dry within hours!
7) We will turn our attention to any specialist stain removal that did not come out as part of the cleaning process
8) Finally, we will reset the carpet pile to allow correct, proper and efficient drying.
Is it true that once you have had your carpet cleaned they get dirtier quicker?
Many years ago when cleaning by shampoo was the normal way that people tackled carpet cleaning themselves, this was true. However the chemicals and Cleaning Machines are much more sophisticated these days therefore (providing the carpet cleaning is carried out correctly) rapid re-soiling shouldn't take place. At Hook Carpet Cleaners we use powerful machines to extract any cleaning residues which can cause rapid re-soiling of the carpet.
Does the property matter if it is furnished or unfurnished?
Not at all, we are more than happy to move and replace your items of furniture, we do however ask you move any small items of clutter from the rooms/areas due to be cleaned.
Do you need someone to come and visit the premises beforehand?
We offer all our customers a free no obligation site visit and quotation, this allows us to provide you with efficient information about the standard of service you can expect from Hook Carpet Cleaners and ask any questing that you may have. We are happy for you as the client to provide us with measurements, however we will always confirm these measurements before work starts.
How long does the cleaning process typically take?
The time that Carpet Cleaning takes will vary from customer to customer, and will depend on how much furniture there is to move and the soiling/staining of the carpet.
How long will my carpet/suite take to dry?
We expect most carpets to be touch dry within 2 – 4 hours, however it is impossible to suggest a complete drying time for carpets, there are so many different factors which affect the speed at which materials dry. However, all fabrics should be completely dry within 24 hours and in many cases a substantial amount quicker than this.
Do you use chemicals to clean?
At Hook Carpet Cleaners we are very aware of the green issues concerning our environment, We offer a range of Cleaning methods including an eco-friendly ' natural range' of cleaning products. It is important to remember the context of the word 'chemical' Every cleaning solution contains chemicals. Water in itself is a chemical. This is the main basis upon the solution which carpet cleaners use - A cleaning chemical diluted within water to create the cleaning solution required.
Will all the stains come out?
In many cases most of the stains will be removed from the carpet cleaning process. Although some stains may need more specialist treatment to remove them. In some circumstances, it may be impossible to remove a stain from the carpet. Hook Carpet Cleaners would always recommend contacting a professional before attempting any stain removal yourself.
Do you use steam?
We have a range of Carpet Cleaning Methods which include the 'Hot Water Extraction Cleaning Method' Also known as steam cleaning. Great care should be taken when using steam to clean carpets, some times it may be necessary to use a far 'cooler' cleaning solution to stop the carpet shrinking or loosing shape. A professional carpet cleaner should identify this before cleaning begins.
Should I Invest in after-care products such as Scotch Guard?

In some cases we may suggest applying a stain guard treatment to you carpet, however this will depend on several factors specific to your carpet. Hard Floors FAQ
How do you clean hard floors?
A typical floor cleaning process would undertake the following stages.
1) A Low speed rotary used to gently encourage soils to lift from the flooring.
2) High pressure extraction cleaning of the surface
3) We rinse the flooring through again to ensure that no soils remain within the floor
4) The rinse is extracted leaving the floor almost completely dry.
5) A cancelling rinse is applied lightly by mop and left naturally to dry.
6) A base coat of floor seal is applied
7) Two more coats of seal are applied and left to harden
8) A High Speed Buffing unit is used to leave a non slip high shine floor surface.
If you clean my floor will it be easier to maintain?
Yes, always – By applying a seal to your flooring, it means that day to day soils simply sit on top of the seal we put down, rather than becoming engrained into the flooring itself. We recommend using a damp mop regularly to maintain the floor in its best condition.
Is the cleaning harmful to the environment

Does the area need to be completely empty?
Yes – Because of the cleaning process we use, at times, your flooring will be wet, its important the the area is completely empty and remains empty until the final layer of seal has be laid and dried.
Do you need to seal the floor again after cleaning?
Yes, Hook Carpet Cleaners would never clean a hard floor without applying a sealant after. Without the correct sealant applied, your hard flooring will become dirty and difficult to clean very quickly.
Will someone need to visit the site before?
Hook Carpet Cleaners will always attend a site visit before processing with any new hard floor work. We need to identify any issues including repairs to the floor that may be required, and to identify the type of floor and cleaning method.
How soon after cleaning can I walk on the floor?
After the final coat of seal has been applied, Hook Carpet Cleaners recommends that you avoid walking on the floor for a minimum of 12 -18 hours. This allows the seals to harden fully and provide maximum durability.
How long does the cleaning take?
It's impossible to give a 'cleaning time' for hard floors. Some take a matter of hours to clean and seal, others can take days. Ultimately it depends on the amount of soiling within the flooring and the size of the area which needs to be cleaned.
Wood floor Cleaning, Sanding and Sealing FAQ
Is the Cleaning affected by the type of wood?
Some woods will respond differently to cleaning, factors which will affect cleaning and sanding include density, age, type, construction etc. A site visit is essential to establish this.
Can you stain wood after it has been sanded?
Yes, Once you wood flooring has been sanded, you can stain the wood floor to your desired colour, from light oak, to a dark birch.
Can you stain wood after cleaning?
Although technically there is nothing to stop you applying a stain to the flooring after cleaning, this is not a service that Hook Carpet Cleaners Recommends of offers to its customers. The final product can often look patchy, or discoloured from previous stains which have been applied.
Does the wood have to be sealed after sanding or cleaning?
Without fail, all wood floors should be appropriately sealed after sanding or cleaning, Wood floor has a high absorption rate for moisture. Without a correct and hard wearing floor seal, the wood will becoming heavily soiled and stained, long term cleaning of untreated flooring will cause your floor to become damaged beyond repair.
Does the floor have to be sanded or can you just clean it?
This is ultimately the choice of the customer, the condition of the wood floor is a good indication. Sometimes a good clean and seal is all a wood floor needs, however, in some cases we may well recommend that the floor sanded for optimum result.
Upholstery FAQ
What type of fabrics can you clean?
We can clean most types of furnishings, including leather cleaning and repair and natural/man made fibres.
Will the suite be wet after cleaning?
This will depend on the method of cleaning, in some cases the fabric may be wet, however, it may be dry immediately, this will depend on the fabric, fibres and the cleaning method required.
How long does a chair take to dry?
There are so many factors which will affect the drying time of a 3 piece suite, the drying time could be anything from 30 minutes to 24 hours depending on the fabric, cleaning method and the amount of moisture.
What Method of Cleaning to you use?
We have a range of cleaning methods which include, steam extraction cleaning, Low moisture foam encapsulation cleaning, dry cleaning and dry fusion.
Can we use the furniture straight away?
It is recommended that you wait until your furnishings are completely dry before using them.
How long will the cleaning take?
It is impossible to tell, typically a 3 piece suite will take a minimum of 3 – 4 hours to clean properly
